Billmon: "Decadent Fonts"
Via Best of the Blogs, I see the conservatives have a found a new enemy in their glorious campaign for the cultural purification of the Fatherland:
Bad Words: The Case Against Decadent Fonts
by James G. PoulosWith a straight face, then, we can say that a concerted effort to communicate dignity, restraint, and nobility to children and their parents through the use of artful, disciplined fonts in the promotion of children’s products would at least make a dent in an otherwise unfettered popular culture of fashionable disobedience and willful slovenliness.
Maybe James G. Poulos can say it with a straight face, I sure can't. In fact, unlike Best of the Blogs, I'm not entirely sure this isn't a parody -- a bad parody -- of the prose style of William F. Buckley Jr. on the day he tried marijuana (safely beyond the 12-mile nautical limit, of course.)
