James Wolcott: New Orleans Died for Bush's Sins (III)

In the wake of Katrina, it is a time for bold, visionary thinking. For thinking "outside the box" and plotting an alternative future to lead the country--and the world--out of the burning panoramas of looming dystopia.

Unfortunately, bold, visionary thinking is something I'm no good at, no matter how much I strain my caffeinated bean.

Fortunately, there are others up to the challenge, and in the days and months ahead such visionaries will be projecting proposals and scenarios onto the widescreen of the collective imagination that perhaps, just perhaps, will be translated into action.

But I feel confident announcing in advance that of all the political proposals and socio-economic remedies being hatched in gray masses across America, none will be outdo this xenophobic exhibition of noodle-muscled posturing for sheer empty bluster.
