Arthur Silber: The Mythos of Journalism: The Practice of Idiocy, and the Empty Box
I wrote yesterday about The Priesthood of Journalism, and the press's baseless and damaging claim that reporters must always be relieved of the responsibility of identifying confidential sources, even when those sources have told them nothing but lies and the lies have resulted in demonstrable and often very serious harm. This kind of absolute "journalist privilege" has nothing whatsoever to do with press freedom or the First Amendment and it never did, except in the fevered brains of the High Priests of Spin.
