Pinochet held on murder and torture charges

The former Chilean dictator, Augusto Pinochet, was detained under house arrest in Santiago today, over charges including, murder, torture and kidnapping in the years following his 1973 coup.
Judge Alejandro Solis said he had ordered the house arrest of the 90-year-old in connection with human rights abuses at Villa Grimaldi, an infamous detention centre run by the Pinochet regime's secret police.
